Book Review - Cold Earth - Sarah Moss

Cold Earth is a first novel by Sarah Moss and a very good one it is too. Set in Greenland during one Arctic summer, six archaeologists are there to unearth traces of the lost Viking settlements. They have left behind an epidemic and the members of the team are worried about their loved ones but the computer can only be used sparingly to check the news back home.

The book is written from the viewpoint of each member of the team as they think through what they have left behind and, as their communication with the outside world is severed, they begin to write their final letters home. A haunting and eerie story that grips and ramps up the tension. You get inside the heads of these people and as their hopes for rescue fade there seems only one way out of this.
