Lumiere London - A stunning spectacular

Map of exhibits - Lumiere London
Last night hubby and I ventured into London to try and see as many exhibits as possible of Lumiere London. It soon became obvious that we would not be able to see as many as we thought. We began at King's Cross, an area I don't know that well and certainly not at night! I had map I'd downloaded  and printed off showing where the exhibits were as well as my trusty London Map (which inconveniently stopped after King's Cross station!) Getting enough light to read these maps wasn't easy.

We found our first exhibit called IFO (Identified Flying Object) and then tried to find some others and  got lost. We headed back to the first exhibit and I said 'let's just follow the crowd.' With multitudes of others we set off towards Regent's Canal and there found a few more light installations after which we decided to go the long way back towards the station crossing a bridge which gave a rather nice view of the canal. We caught a bus (hubby is the bus expert) to Oxford Circus to see a few more exhibits before heading off through Chinatown to Leicester Square Gardens and Piccadilly and on to St Martin-in-the Field and Trafalgar Square. We caught a tube to Westminster to see some exhibits at St. James's Church only to miss at least two others. Then it was a walk to Westminster Abbey for two stunning projections and down towards the Southbank. However, by then time was running against us and we only saw two before the lights went out at 10.30pm.

We had no time to see any exhibits in Fitzrovia or Mayfair but what we did see was quite stunning. I took over 40 photos and four videos. My favourites were Child Hood in Trafalgar Square and The Light of the Spirit (Chapter 2) at Westminster Abbey, though Leicester Square Gardens was brilliant. We didn't have time to go through the gardens so we took photos standing on some seating by the fence! I also enjoyed a couple of other projections, one of which was in Piccadilly called Voyage. I can't remember for the life of me where the other one was.

It was a long evening but the time sped by. My feet were sore by the end and my leg muscles knew about it.  We must have walked miles. We set off from home just after 5pm and arrived back around 11.30pm. I was done in but wouldn't have missed it for world.

The event runs over four nights and tonight is the last night. I'd suggest it takes three nights to see it all...maybe!
