The moon, a garden and art

Museum of the Moon,
Natural History Museum
Had a lovely day up in London on Monday with a friend. We wanted to see The Museum of the Moon at the Natural History Museum, and wow, was it good! Quite awe inspiring and a lovely setting. Afterwards we looked into Human Biology and learned how the mind works. There were lots of things to try out (fun isn't just for the kids, you know!). We did splendidly at the spacial awareness and then I'm afraid the humour got rather juvenile as we tried other things. It was all great fun and there was lots of laughter.

We then headed out through the Darwin Centre into an oasis of calm and tranquility in the wildlife garden. We could not believe that such a garden was here in the middle of busy London. Fantastic planting, a lily pond, lots of bugs, butterflies and damselflies, and plenty of places to sit and just be. I'd recommend a visit.

We strolled over to Hyde Park to see the Diana water feature which my friend hadn't seen before. Children were having a great time running and paddling. It was very tempting to dangle feet in as it was such a hot day. Finally we ended up at the Serpentine Gallery where we took in an exhibition by Faith Ringgold. I found her art - story quilts and paintings - very powerful, lots about slavery, women and politics. It was also nice and cool inside there!

Quite a lot was packed into a small space of time, yet the contrasts were lovely.
