Putney Bridge to Fulham and Fulham Palace

Bishops Park, Fulham

Recently the Thames Path behind Fulham Football Club has been opened up to walkers. Before that, one had to come off the path and walk around the club. However, they have been building a new part of the stadium and finally that part is complete. I'd been meaning to check out the new path, and I took the opportunity to explore it last week.

I had half thought about walking all the way to Hammersmith Bridge, but there was a cold wind blowing off the Thames, though it was a sunny day. So, after taking my photos, I doubled back and went to Fulham Palace for lunch and a mooch around.

I have to say Fulham Palace is one of my favourite places. The house was dressed for Christmas and looked lovely. The cafe overlooks the gardens, and I grabbed a seat by the window to eat my soup and toast. Then, after a wander around the house and chapel, I set off into the gardens. There is always something to see and plants for sale. There was Christmas Wreath making class that afternoon, but I was too late for that as it was fully booked. Sounded great, though.

Like other gardens, they are putting on an illuminated show in the evenings, and they were busy erecting lights and objects. I believe the first night was Friday. I am sure it will be lovely.

Eventually, I wound up walking through the churchyard of All Saints, Fulham on my way back to the bus stop at Putney Bridge. I went into the church, always nice to visit.
