Lift 109, Battersea Power Station

The chimney with the black on top (right hand front) is where the lift pops up.

I have written about Lift 109 before, but I was lucky enough to visit again recently at the suggestion of a friend who had not been. The weather was beautiful with blue sky.

We bought some lunch and ate outside before our 'flight'. We then went to the power station to check in on the top floor of the shopping complex. There was a little time to view the display before entering through the door to the room with interactive walls and visuals. Afterwards, we stepped inside one of two lifts that take you most of the way up. A flight of stairs takes you to the main chimney lift. Once inside, red lights ring the glass lift and up you go.

At the top there is plenty of time to view London from 365 degrees. Helpfully, there is information about what you can see, though you cannot see the O2 Dome due to all the buildings in front of it, but you can see Wembley Stadium, the Royal Hospital Chelsea and many other places. Below are the railway tracks crossing the Thames, a swimming pool on top of one of the new Battersea apartment buildings and Battersea Bridge and park. The guide is also there to help identify things if you need more direction.

And here we are

Battersea Bridge

Finally, it is time to go down. The exit is strategically placed by the gift shop! We went for a wander outside, the Thames looking as gorgeous as ever.

While you can just turn up and book a ticket, don't chance it in case you are disappointed. We went on a weekday. I would expect the weekends are particularly busy. It is certainly an experience and I enjoyed this time as much as the first.
