Looking towards Kingston Bridge |
The Kingston to Richmond stretch of the Thames Path is a local one for me, and I walk it several times a year usually. This was the first time this year. I took Rue with me. Not that he appreciated travelling by bus, so it had to be local as the whining on public transport can wear you down!
The river looked lovely in the sunshine, and Rue enjoyed time off his lead. Spring is well and truly here as the trees are blossoming. The day was warm and pleasant. I had considered branching off into Home Park, but I remembered there were deer in there and I didn't want to put Rue back on the lead, so struck to the Thames Path.
It's not a long walk and we reached Hampton Court before lunch. There was time at the train station to buy my first ice cream of the year, and I bought Rue his doggie equivalent, which he loved. There was a problem with the trains...a fire along the track or something. As there was no information about how long we would have to wait to get home, I decided to return by bus. This meant two buses, not ideal for Rue, but we made it back without too much trouble. We cannot decide whether Rue just gets over excited, is anxious or has motion sickness. We are going to try him on calming tablets to see if these help. I have to admit he is exactly the same in the car, and will also whine at traffic lights when we are on a walk and has to wait. He doesn't like waiting! It's a shame, as it would be great to take him on my walks, but the stress to us both makes for an unpleasant time. Short journeys are just about doable. I just wish we could sort out his problems. Still working on that one!
