| Hertford House, The Wallace Collection |
Hertford House in London is where The Wallace Collection can be found. The house was once owned by the Marquesses of Hertford. There were four of them. Having not been there before, it certainly gave me the wow factor. Richly decorated rooms with massive mirrors above fireplaces and huge chandeliers, each space is packed with furniture and glass fronted cabinets containing ceramics. There is a room where the middle aisle has display cabinets which are covered to keep the light out, but which you can lift to see inside.
As well as the furniture, glass and ceramics, there is an armoury. The upstairs galleries contain art from the 14th to 19th century. Each room leads to another. It was far bigger than I expected and I actually thought I might get lost in the galleries!

| I love this Italian work |
 |
| Incense holders - wow! |
 |
| Tiled room -Islamic |
Of all the things on display, I was particularly drawn to the Italian ceramics. I'd happily have them on display at home (in my dreams!)

| Yep, my writring desk! |
 |
| Filing cabinet! |
 |
| Somewhere for my quill and ink! |
 |
| Wine cooler - I don't drink wine, but I'd love this. |
The collection was bequeathed to the nation in 1897 by Lady Wallace, so it could all be kept together. The museum opened to the public in 1900.
It would take all day or more to take in everything carefully. There is so much to see and visiting the house is free (exhibitions are not).
