A choir concert and a jigsaw puzzle

Rue and the jigsaw don't mix. I soon moved it

Last week I went along to see the community choir, Euphonix perform eight songs from their spring concert. At one time I belonged to this choir and stayed with them for around fourteen years. However, it was time to move on. I joined a different choir for a couple of years and then decided it was time to have a complete break from choirs. I still enjoy singing, but at home, singing along to my favourite songs on the radio or on CD.

The section I used to sing in, sopranos

However, I still have a couple of friends from Euphonix, and one of them enjoys the rehearsals but doesn't like performing, so it gave me a chance to catch up with her and listen to the concert at the same time. I have been back to listen to them once before, but this collection of songs was a nice mix. The only song I didn't like was a bluesy version of a Beatles song. Songs included Fleetwood Mac's Don't Stop, and ABBA's Supertrooper.

Tom doing his thing

As usual, the choir was collecting for a local charity. I had a very pleasant morning in the cafe area of The Rose Theatre in Kingston.

As the weather was pretty good at times last week I spent a lot of time on the garden bench reading, joined of course, by Rue, who loves that bench as much as I do. In fact, he whines to go out there in the morning and is on it before the sun reaches it. However, he was peeved with me over the weekend because it was too cold for me to sit out there, despite the sun being out some of the time. He doesn't like being on his own, so it was a case of him asking to go out, then when he realised I wasn't joining him, she asked to come back in. So the whole scenario of him going out and coming back in was the order of the day.

One day last week, I took Rue for a longer walk. This is a route I used a lot during lockdown. There is a park, a horse field (owned by an Equestrian Centre) and a wetlands area. It was a lovely day and Rue appreciated longer free time off the lead (though I had to put him on the lead on the path by the horse field and in the wetlands. This was a lovely walk.

Before the groomers, so making the most of rolling!

On Friday Rue went to the groomers and I picked him up at lunchtime. My, he does look lovely, and he smells divine. The whole process so thoroughly exhausted him that he spent the afternoon asleep on the sofa. I wonder how long it will be before he rolls in something obnoxious!

After the groomers - he looks like a puppy again

It was also on Friday afternoon that I began a new jigsaw. This is one I was given at Christmas. I think I had withdrawal symptoms because once I began it, I found it hard to stop. Jigsaws are addictive, well, with me they are. I have worked on it over the weekend and again this morning, spending three hours at a time. I can barely drag myself away. This is a really lovely one.

Jigsaws became a thing when my kids were young and I bought a jigsaw for us all to do every Christmas. Gradually, over the years, the kids tailed off and now it's just me. Putting a jigsaw together is totally relaxing. I put on a CD, well, it's several a session, and I am in the zone.

How it is at the moment

Over the last couple of weeks, I have managed to get my garden going a bit. The rain really put things back, but I have now dug over one of the plots, cut the grass and done some weeding. There's still such a lot to do. Finally, there is some colour in the garden as the spring flowers are up.

In the garden

I think these are called false nettles. Possibly classed as a weed, but I leave them for the bees.

Well, that's been me this week.
