With the weather so good last week, my son and I took Rue out to one of my favourite parks, Cheam Park. This joins Nonsuch Park through a couple of gates. Nonsuch is a huge park and Rue really enjoyed himself. Lots of dog walkers use both parks, so he met lots of doggies. The only part we didn't walk through was the gardens surrounding the house. We could have taken Rue on a lead, but decided to let him have the run of the park. I have been in the gardens before and would like to visit again.
Nonsuch Park has a cafe, but so does Cheam Park, and that is the one we used. It's dog friendly and vegan friendly. The cafe is very popular, especially with families, as the kiddies playground is nearby.
Nonsuch Park has royal connections, having been created by Henry VIII for his 30th year as King and for the birth of his son Edward VI. Unfortunately, Henry died before the park was completed. To read more about the park (which was larger than it is today) click here.

These two parks make for a wonderful day out with plenty of places to picnic and just off the main roads through Cheam Village, which has some of the nicest ancient buildings locally, including Whitehall House, where you can pick up a walking guide of the area. The photos below were taken in 2020.
