Book Review - We Are All Made of Glue

If you read one book this year - read this.  We Are All Made of Glue is Marina Lewycka's third and latest book and like the other two it is so funny that at times I found myself laughing out loud.  Georgie's marriage is falling apart, her son is obsessed with the 'end of the world' and she has got embroiled in a neighbours problems.  Mrs Shapiro is and elderly lady living in a ramshackle house surrounded by about seven cats, a pram filled with contents taken from skips and a mysterious story.  The social workers want her moved into a care home and estate agents are after her property using whatever means necessay.  There is also Mr Ali, the handyman with his nephew and friend (aka 'The Uselesses') trying to patch up the old house.

This book is one you could just read from start to finish without stopping.  It has its serious side, the mystery, but running through it all is Lewycka's unique brand of humour.  The book looks at relationships, circumstances and how we treat others. I don't want to give much away because I would love you to read this book.  Lewycka's writing is such a refreshing change.  I always come away with a sense of having learned something about people and the world and the characters stay with you long after you close the book.  I cannot wait for her next book!
