Advent - 4th December 2011 (a night of festive singing)

I'm still buzzing a bit from last nights concert when I sang with Euphonix in All Saints Church, Kingston.  We were part of a fund raising 'gig'.  There were six choirs in all an one duo.  One of the choirs was from a local school (8 and 9 years olds) - so sweet.  Our set was a Finnish Reindeer Calling Song, It's The Most Wonderful Time of The Year (made famous by Andy Williams), Baby It's Cold Outside and One Day Like This (Elbow).  It was a lovely evening with good music and singing.  The church we were in is on the site of the crowning of the very first English King in Saxon times (Egbert 802-839) and possibly six more after that. (You don't just get trivia here folks, you get a history lesson too!).

This was the second of three concerts with Euphonix.  We had our end of term concert at lunchtime on Wednesday in the Rose Theatre cafe, Kingston when in addition to the songs mentioned above we also sang This Little Light of Mine, California Dreaming and a song written by our musical director.

Last night was very busy with shoppers still in Kingston and I got to see the Christmas trees and lights all twinkling for the first time.  The Market Place was humming with activity and looking pretty (if you are from the UK and have seen the Christmas TV advert from Morrisons supermarket, it is from Kingston Market Place where it is filmed).  See advert here.  The big white/cream building is where the choir sometimes rehearses and at the end you will see a church in the background - that's where I was last night!
