A bit of station entertainment

Euphonix Community Choir entertaining travellers at Waterloo Station, London
Singing on Waterloo station was a real experience....both in competing with the tannoy system and an endurance test against the freezing wind blowing in from the entrance to where the choir was standing under the Christmas tree.  Despite that it was wonderful.  Euphonix gathered a small crowd who cheered and clapped and I think we did rather well for The Stroke Association who we were collecting for.  We sang for 45/50 minutes our Christmas songs with a couple of non-Christmas ones thrown in (One Day Like This and Perfect Day).  Not sure how we sounded in a place so fast but people seemed to like us.  There are more photos on  our web site.  Click Christmas Concerts 2012 tab.

The next evening we were central to The Rose Theatre charity concert and shared the stage with Michael Aspel and Sarah Kennedy.  It was a wonderful evening.  We did seven Christmas/winter songs and three carols with the audience.  Great fun to do.  The voice was pretty rough at the end.  We were told that we could 'have a go' at the descant for Hark the Herald Angels Sing if we wanted but we'd only practiced it once and it's VERY high!  When it came to it I think three or four of us went for it and we reached the top note - hopefully we didn't sound like strangled cats!

A nice well earned break now.
