Street Art - not just Banksy

Commissioned for The Stables Market
(Amy Winehouse)
Out on another walk with Morley College students yesterday we discovered the street art in and around Camden. The life of street art, we were told, is about four weeks. Our leader did a recce of the walk last week and one of the pieces she was going to talk about had disappeared. Ah, but another one had appeared somewhere else! Some art does stay and the very first piece is still there ten years or so after it was done.

Our group gets a follow up email later from the leader with notes from the walk in case we want to go back or follow up things. If you like the look of these walks and you live in London I'd recommend them.

I found this a most interesting walk and loved all the colourful art and at the end of the walk I went back to the market to take some photos there. Here is just a smidgen of what I took.

This building used to be cigarette factory

This artist was one of the Camden Group who also included Henry Lamb and Duncan Grant

These tiles appear all over London!

Artist: Wordsmith

This is a new piece, arrived sometime in the last week!

The Stables Market is next to Camden Market.
Horses were working horses used to move goods from Camden Lock.
There was even a horse hospital on site.
