I have fallen in love with the city of Chester! Hubby and I were there for a few days last week and on the day we arrived we walked the two miles of city walls. The city itself is bustling and has this unique shopping centre on two levels with lots of old buildings and a wonderful clock. There is the River Dee and the canal, and of course the racecourse (which our hotel overlooked). One day we took the bus out to Chester Zoo. What a lovely place.
On the overcast day we decided to look at the cathedral and museum and on our final day with walked along the River Dee on the far side to view the Statue of Minerva. We walked on through to The Meadows before crossing back over the suspension bridge, through Grosvenor Park and took in the ruins of the first cathedral, the Amphitheater and the Roman Gardens.
Chester is a place I'd love to return to at some time. But now I'm back I've come home with a cold and hacking cough and we have workmen in the back garden! All good fun.
