White Monday
(3rd February 2009)
No buses today, no tubes and no trains,
No taxi’s in London, at airports no planes,
The snow has arrived and on hills once all green
A carpet of white has transformed the whole scene.
Cars move like snails and ice causes sliding,
Kids on toboggans go hurtling and gliding,
News on TV is all about weather
With pictures and clips and feats of endeavour.
Nearly two decades have passed since we’ve seen
The snow cover all to such an extreme.
As flurries still fall we capture the day
On film, in our hearts where our memories will stay.
