My brother is visiting today. This will be our Christmas get-together as he lives on the South coast and will be working on Christmas Day, as probably his wife will too. They both work in Residential Care Homes and in the Community. Work doesn't stop just because it's Christmas. There will be many others working on Christmas Day - nurses, doctors, emergency services, people who work in Power Stations making sure there is enough gas/electricity for us to cook our dinner with! Then there are the people who will be volunteering to serve lunches for the homeless as well as waiters and chefs in restaurants (and don't forget the washer-uppers!). These days of living 24/7 means that less and less of us get breaks at this time of year. Some shops re-open on Boxing Day so staff get just one day off though some of us manage a two week break giving more time to take our 'unwanted' presents back to those shops! Here's to the many who give their days for others at this special time of year!
With one week to go is panic setting in? Come on chill out. Enjoy your weekend.
