A meal and a talk

Fibre Optic day tomorrow!  At present we have been managing but my husband has been having to share my laptop as he can't pick up the internet on his computer.  The internet has crashed a few times and the speed slows down from time to time but at least I have been able to get on and view my emails and update my blogs.

After such a hectic time recently life has slowed down, though yesterday I was at a lunch over in Surrey - a Mothers' Union fundraising event.  We had a sit down meal (chicken or soya chunks in a mushroom sauce with potatoes and veg followed by a selection of hot and cold puddings).  There was a bring and buy sale (bought a book) and a raffle (didn't win anything) and after lunch we had a speaker talking about her holiday to Sierra Leone. She eventually saw the poorer areas and ended up helping (with family and friends) fund a church and school as the building they were occupying was falling down and the roof leaked, there was one ABC poster for the children and the last piece of chalk was about to run out. The average age someone lives to there is around 47 and children receive probably no more than three years education (if they are lucky). It was a very moving story but inspirational.

It was a nice day out in the company of really nice ladies.
