Torch Relay - Kingston

Young Asian dancers - entertainment while we wait
Yesterday was an exciting day as the Olympic torch relay came through Kingston and yours truly dragged herself from bed (after a prod from hubby) and got down there with youngest offspring to do my share of the cheering.  The weather was wonderful.....summer at last......and we arrived in good time (about 8.30am) to find a spot to stand.  There was some entertainment from some young Asian dancers and a group of South Korean dancers and musicians.  While we waited everyone going past got a cheer, the NHS bike riders (in case they were needed), Police on motocycles and some entertainers and the security runners.  The nearby church bells were in full throttle and then at last we saw the flame being carried by a young woman.  It all happened in a flash!  We then went off to another viewing point (looking over an underpass) where with camera pushed through barrier railings I took photos of the torch change over.

That excitment over we went to the shopping precinct where the South Korean dancers and musicians were giving a full performance.  They were terrific.  I loved their hats which had a ribbon attached to the top.  As they moved their heads the ribbon went around in a circle.  They were stunning.

We then went to Costa's to pick up some breakfast and went down to the river where it was shaded and calm.  A chance to relax and reflect.
