Singing our goodbyes

Euphonix - The CD!
Back Cover
It's all going on! Lunch time yesterday Euphonix Community Choir sang it's last concert with Dominic. The concert went very well and during our last song, Perfect Day, we'd changed one of the choruses to sing about how lovely it was to sing with him but now he's moving on!  He had no idea we were going to do this and it was lovely to see his surprised smile from the piano.  We were lucky enough to have the two Dan's playing with us (bass guitar and drums) and Hannah Rose on accordion. We sang a mix of Christmas songs and others - songs were Don't Kneel By My Graveside (rather sad for Christmas!), Straighten Up and Fly Right, Let it Snow, Motherland, You've Got a Friend, Here We Come a Wassailing, Gaudete, Something Inside So Strong and Perfect Day.  We did a last fling with the Reindeer Calling Song!  There were masses of people and some of my friends came along to hear us and were really impressed!

After the concert we had a little party and there were presentations to Dom for his time with us and he gave some presents to the committee members.  Luckily the CD that was put together arrived in time for all of to take home and before I knew it everyone was queuing up for Dom to sign them. So I took mine over too! It was a nice way for each of us to say goodbye. One of the presents we gave Dom was a book with our goodbye comments.  We'd each had a piece of paper to write on and one of the committee stuck them all in the book.

It will seem so strange in January when we start back with a new Musical Director.  Ben was there for the concert - all 6 foot six of him proudly wearing his Euphonix badge!  I wonder what challenges lay ahead for us.

In November I joined a little spin-off singing group led by a member of the choir. At present there are 8-10 of us and initially we met to sing wassailing songs. I never knew there were so many! Despite the small number we managed to sing songs in four parts and sound good!  I'm unsure how much time I will have come next year to carry on with this group too but I shall see how it goes. We are a nice mix and it's a chance to get to know some of the members a bit better as well as some new people. In Euphonix where there are about 90 or so of us so we tend to mix with people singing the same part.

Today at 2pm I'm meeting up with the Oxfam crew for their Christmas lunch. For some reason they keep asking me back! We're going to the local Wetherspoons so should be good.
