Sky Garden visit

Today I visited The Sky Garden with a friend. The garden is in what is known as the Walkie Talkie building near Fenchurch Street station. Although it is free to visit you do have to book in advance. We had tickets for midday. After a ticket check there is the security check (think airport, but it does make you feel safer). Then it's up in the lift to the roof garden. I say roof garden - it is under cover. There is a walk way up steps to the top. A water stray comes on from time to time to water plants. From the top part you can view the other aptly named buildings - the Cheese Grater and the Gherkin. We nabbed someone to take a photo of my friend and I together and then went down the other side back to the cafe level. We walked out on to the viewing platform. This too is mostly under cover. Considering the type of weather today - we had everything from sun, wind, snow and thunder - I didn't feel cold out there. Afterwards we had a well earned hot chocolate and watched the shifting weather. Snow came in like fog and behind it were blue skies. Incredible.
